UK POPS are looking to put on a POPS Big Way Camp, in prep for a record attempt to be done later in the year.
Hi All,
As some of you may be aware, it was originally intended that we ran a POPS Record Attempt as a concurrent activity; unfortunately due to the lack of availability of a third aircraft, we will now hold a POPS Big Way Camp using the two aircraft and effectively POPS will turn SOS.
Having recently had commitment from Hibaldstow, I can now confirm that:
The POPS Big Way Camp shall take place from Mon 16 - Fri 20 June at Skydive Hibaldstow
The outline plan is to meet at Skydive Hibaldstow at 08:15 on Mon 16 June for kit & documents check, Hib waiver signed (it would be helpful if this can be done in advance of, where possible, the event) jumpsuits on, gear turned on and ready.
We are excited to announce that the legends who are Larry Henderson and Scott Latinis shall be the Principal Load Organisers
We will be looking at 4 - 6 jumps per day over that period and therefore budget for 20 jumps. Jump Tickets shall be £25.00 (Hib Block Jumps can be used). Altitude shall be 15000 Ft. We will have two aircraft and work towards multi-aircraft formation.
The Registration Fee is £135.00. Registration is mandatory.
For POPS members on previous UK records you may be asking what do you get for your £135.00 Registration Fee?
You get:
World class Load Organiser in Scott who will shape and plan your jumps to be the most successful they can we be – we want this to be a step change and prepare for the POPS UK Record Attempt later this year
Jumping with a committed group that are 100% there to progress
The opportunity to earn a Load Organiser’s reference for other, larger events
Support our application for other funds to help with the overall cost given that each jumper has shown their commitment to the Plan
T Shirt
Please see below the design and size guide for our Event T-Shirt (which I note does not contain the words SOS UK Record 2025, work in progress). That said, please see below the size guide; I would be grateful if you would be so kind as to send me your size and I will update the form. Best way to figure size out is take a t-shirt and measure the width, with the top flat, that will determine your size.
Below is the size guide we recommend using with our jerseys (we have added an extra two inches of length to all sizes as we have found through product development that that works really well to avoid the arms riding up)
Registration for a shirt must be completed before 12th May to allow for delivery. Please discuss payments with Mike.
Fish & Chips (menu to follow) on Mon 15 Jun included in the Registration Fee. Other food choices will be made available and prices confirmed in the forthcoming period
An anticipated meal for the group on completion of the event (if there are any funds remaining, those will be deposited at the Bar at the end of the event to toast our success!)
This is to primarily offset LO’s rate/expenses as well as Camera Fliers’ pack jobs and other costs; I remain confident that funding shall be available to cover part of those costs (and I am currently in discussion for the same), there may be an increase in the Registration Fee.
A registration form is attached and is self-explanatory using the following link:
Please refer to Skydive Hibaldstow’s website for accommodation options available in order that you can make the necessary logistics/arrangements (Skydive Hibaldstow)
I will be at the DZ from Fri 13 Jun
Key to achieving the record will be safety, currency and consistency; there are a number of events at different DZs both in the UK and elsewhere; LBW; P3; Jim Bradwell’s 16 Ways and others. We are investing ad hoc build up weekends at Hib, Langar, I would ask for support from the Wider Team to promote the event and get fellow POPS into the air. For LBW, the POC is Clive Vardakis.
We will seek to organise warm ups from now up to and including 14 - 15 Jun
Registration shall close at 16:00 15 May. This shall allow us to update the dive plans, allocate slots.
Obviously things change; if any changes occur, then please, in the first instance inform me either by email or telephone (+447748 534914)
I have already spoken with British Skydiving “The Mag” to socialise the event.
Please cascade out to other potential POPS/SOS members or non-members for candidate membership
Best regards,
Mike
