TEAM-80 Record Jumps by Pat Moorehead at Skydive Elsinore,
Elsinore, CA on 19-20 November 2011

The TEAM-80 event raised money for the Skydiving Museum as Pat Moorehead made practice jumps on November 19 and JOES record jumps on November 20, his 80th birthday. With the help and support of many friends from around the world, Pat successfully made 81 jumps on November 20 to set a new JOES record for number of jumps in a 24 hour period. Practice jumps made on November 19 also counted toward new POPS, SOS, and JOS records.

The POPS, SOS, JOS, and JOES records set are:

  • JOES record 81 jumps in a 24 hour period on 11-20-2011 this is a World, USA National, and CA state record.
  • JOS record 89 jumps in a 24 hour period on 11-19-2011 and 11-20-2011 this is a World, USA National, and CA state record.

Before the sun rises on November 20, staff is busy inside the packing shelter preparing for the event. This shelter was provided by HDT Global. Jay Stokes (POPS #5572), operations controller, on the radio. Jay holds the record of 640 jumps in 24 hours.
Dawn breaks and the TEAM-80 action begins. The safety jumper holds the WDIs as Jay Stokes and Alicia Moorehead prepare to walk with Pat to the airplane to start the event. A safety jumper rode with Pat on each load to perform a final equipment check and to spot for Pat's exit.
The banner for TEAM-80 was signed by many of the crowd. One of the exits.

Many members of the Latin Skydivers were present. The rigging team helped Pat into the next rig for each jump.
The timekeepers were busy recording time of takeoff, exit and landing for each jump. Pat made his 81st jump of the day with a flag. His 80 jumps were done in 6 hours 37 minutes and 41 seconds.
